The vet treats all kinds of animals from the common dog, cat and bird to large farm animals like cattle, horse, sheep and swine. Clinical diagnosis of disease, administration of medication , timely vaccination to prevent disease, advising on the health and diet of animals conducting scientific breeding etc. are some areas of activity of the veterinarian
Courses: Bachelors programme in Veterinary Science/Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry(B.V.Sc/B.VSc&AH).
Masters degree programmes in Veterinary Science (MVSc.)- It allows specialization in areas like poultry Science, Dairy Production , Dairy Technology, Dairy Science, Animal nutrition, Pathology, Parasitological, Surgery, Animal Reproduction, Genetics, Feed&Fofdder Technology.
Eligibility: For B.V.Sc/B.VSc& AH, +2/equivalent in science with physics, chemistry, and biology. The duration is Five and half years including internship
Admission: Admission procedure varies from one university to another . All India Level Entrance examination is conducted by the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR) for admission to courses in veterinary Science. The Successful candidate fill up 15% of the total seats in state . Agricultural Universities and Central Agricultural University and 100% of seats in NDRI, Karnal (Haryana).
