Indian Institute of Technology

The Indian Institute of Technology(IIT), is a world class execellence in engineering education. IITs are not required any introduction either in India or abroad.
The history of the IIT sytems dates back to 1946  when a committeee was setup by jogendra singh, member of the Viceroy’s Executive Council, Department of Education, Health and Agriculture to consider the setting up of Hier Technical Institutes for post war industrial development in India.  Following the recommendations of the sarkar commitee in view, the first Indian Institute of Technology was born in May 1950 in Hijli, Kharagpur.
Other IITs were established in Mumbai(1958), Chennai(1959), Kanpur(1959), Delhi(1961), Guwahati(1994) and Roorkee(established in 1847, converted as IIT in 2001). Now the Indian Govt. is taking steps to set up eight new IITs in Bhuvaneswar, Gandhi Nagar, Indore, Himachal Pradesh, Hyderabad, Patna, Punjab and Rajastan

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (Gate) is to identify meritorius and motivated candidates for admission to Post Graduate programme in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy. The joint Management Test(JMET) is a common admission test for candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme at all the IITs
