To succeed in fashion industry, one must not have social skills in design only , but also be able to spot new trends. Fashion involves the design, fabrication and marketing of clothes that are appealing and in step with the times. It is triggered by people, events and social, economic and technological change. No wonder , fashion and apparel designing in India in recent years.
Courses:  Degree, diploma and master programmes in Design are offered by various institutes. Students interested in a career in fashion designing, need to enroll in professional courses to gain expertise in various areas of this industry such as garment manufacturing technology, textile science, apparel construction methods, fabric dyeing and printing, color mixing and computer-aided design
One can identify his area of interest and it with his aptitude while choosing from the courses offered in various areas of Fashion Designing. These courses are available in areas such as Accessory&Jewelry Design, modeling, garment designing , leather design, interior design, Textile Technology, Textile Desin, Footwear design &allied subjects.
Eligibility: For degree and diploma courses, it is 10+2. For Masters programmes in Design Space; one needs to be a graduate from a recognizes university in any design discipline )Fashion/Textiles/Accessories/Graphics/Communication)or B.A.(Fine Arts)/B.Sc (Textiles &Clothing or B.Tech Textile or Design Diploma from NIFT/NID
Admission: For admission to fashion Management programme of NIFT one needs to have a Graduate or equivalent degree in any discipline recognized by the association of Indian Universities or diploma in Accessory /fashion Design/ FIT from NIFT only
For Admission to the master degree programme in Apparel production of NIFT, one needs to be a B.E/B.Tech (Textiles/ Apparel/Mechanical/Industrial/Production/Electronics/Computer Science/Information Technology) or B.F.Tech. (Apparel Production) from NIFT. Bachelors Degree is must for Masters Degree. Some Institutes select candidate on the basis of mark secured in qualifying examination, But Institutes in the limelight often conducts entrance test for the candidates.
