Milk being a perishable product, its procurement, processing, storage, transportation and distribution have to be done hygienically and without delay. Thus good coordination between livestock owners, chilling units, pasteurizing units and distribution networks is necessary
The technical and quality control aspect of the processing plants for milk and milk products are the concerns of the dairy technologist. The scientific study of the physiology of lactation and breeding of cattle to improve dairy breeds is covered by dairy scientists, Those interested in the processed foods market can research new methods of processing dairy products in order to enhance the marketability of dairy foods

Geology: Quest for Good Career

It is a career for someone who likes science and enjoys working indoors and outdoors. Geographers study the physical phenomena on the earths surface such as the topography and climate of particular regions and understand how these affect the people living there. The formation and changes in rock structure and the exploration of mineral and oil deposits also fall in the purview of the geologists project. Geophysicists combine the knowledge of physics, Chemistry and mathematics to understand the earths atmosphere the play of gravitational , magnetic of ground and surface water, the mysterious dynamics of oceans etc.

Courses: Courses in geology and geography are available at the bachelors degree, post-graduate degree and research degree level. Though there are a small number of institutions, which offer courses in specialized branches of earth sciences, educational opportunities exist primarily in two broad field , viz., geology and geography.

It is only at the Masters degree level that courses in specially areas are available. Career prospects for trained personnel in agriculture are excellent. For a country like India , with its vast land resources, the potential for growth is huge. India has also made much headway in poultry production, livestock and fisheries. Horticulture is today an invaluable source of income for women. The export of farm products has also increased manifold in recent years thus generating a healthy demand for the same.

The qualified personnel can find job at various levels in the Government.
